In January 2008, COPENMIND travel activity has been quite extensive – one or more persons from COPENMIND have visited no fewer than seven different cities around the world, sharing information about COPENMIND and promoting the event to top universities, organizations and companies.
On January 21-29, COPENMIND made a trip to the US to conduct discussions with groups of relevant actors at the following destinations: Washington D.C., Chicago and San Francisco. The Danish Embassy in Washington D.C. hosted a reception that was attended by approximately 40 companies, universities, NGO’s and research labs.
In Chicago and San Francisco, COPENMIND met with several important actors. The meetings provided a number of interesting possibilities for future cooperation with these actors.
On January 21 – February 2, COPENMIND promoted the event in Asia, identifying and establishing new partners and supporters for COPENMIND. COPENMIND visited Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing and Shanghai to promote and convey its vision.
In Tokyo, COPENMIND met with the president of TOKAI University, Dr. Tatsuro Matsumae, who expressed his support and gave his endorsement for COPENMIND 2008.
“Tokai University wholeheartedly endorses the theme of COPENMIND 2008, clean technology, as it is consistent with our university’s strong research tradition in the fields of remote sensing technology, global environmental observation, and R&D of clean solar, wind and hydrogen energy.”
As an institution that has vast experience in forging alliances between education and industry, Tokai University strongly supports COPENMIND’s groundbreaking commitment to bring together governments, universities, and businesses and hopes to play a leading role in COPENMIND to build new person to person networks that can collectively solve global problems.”
In Europe, COPENMIND attended the ProTon Europe conference in Turin, Italy on January 30-31. At the fifth annual conference entitled “Building Successful Partnerships”, the focus was on the most effective ways to work with industry, including creating partnerships that provide long-term benefits and relationships for all parties.
COPENMIND will be in touch with all persons and institutions involved in the COPENMIND promotion during January 2008 and is looking forward meeting all of them in Copenhagen in September 2008.
