Executive Director of the European Environment Agency to give key note speech at COPENMIND 2008
COPENMIND is happy to announce that the European Environment Agency (EEA) has expressed its support to COPENMIND by accepting an invitation to Executive Director, Professor Jacqueline McGlade, to give a key note speech at COPENMIND.
Professor Jacqueline McGlade became executive director of the European Environment Agency in Copenhagen in 2003. Focused in her previous research on spatial and nonlinear dynamics of ecosystems, with particular reference to marine resources, climate change and scenario development, her research has laid the knowledge foundation in relation to her current position as executive director of the EEA.
In addition to her research , Professor McGlade’s former positions as Director of the NERC Centre for Coastal and Marine Sciences, Professor of Biological Sciences at Warwick, Director of Theoretical Ecology at the Forschungszentrum Juelich and Senior Scientist in the federal government of Canada has prepared her for the challenging task of setting the agenda as a major opinion former in European Environmental policy.
The EEA aims to “support sustainable development and to help achieve significant and measurable improvement in Europe’s environment through the provision of timely, targeted, relevant and reliable information to policy making agents and the public”.* Through the creation of a forum for facilitating partnerships on environmental matters acress the university-business gap, COPENMIND strives to become an active part in creating the information needed in order to fulfill the aim of EEA.
